I have a 2TB WD Mirror edition. I used the full 2TB with no backup. Years ago it just stopped powering on. The blue case light would come on, stay solid for about ten second before flashing for a second or two and returning to a solid light permanently. Pressing and/or holding the reset button has no effect on anything.

When I remove the drives from the enclosure and connect them via a hard drive docking station, my PC prompts me to initialize one and format the other. That's not going to happen, because I want some of the data.

When I connected the two drives to my PC and ran RecoverMyFiles I set it up as a RAID0 (not sure if that's correct) I could see a lot of the files. But the ones I recovered as a test, were all garbled. For example, a picture would be a pixelated, distorted mess.

Is there any way to fix this without finding a new controller or sending the drives off to a data recovery company?

DMDE should be able to assemble your RAID as a virtual drive. Can you show us the Partitions window in DMDE?

Can you upload detailed photos of both sides of the USB-SATA bridge board in the enclosure? Sometimes there is an easy, no-cost DIY solution.
