If you do this and if you then plug the SATA PCB to MRT port and run it can you access the modules on the drive by MRT Utility ?

I cannot see. I don't know why. I afraid to make wrong thing and lost data. And again swap to original PCB. There are 700 Gb data in hdd. I am recovering in slow motion )). 120 gb 1 week. Customer need especially 150 gb important data. I will try again when I get 150 gb important part.

My guess I could make better I read some more articles about this kind HDD. I hope I would

Better send drive to someone who knows what he/she is doing ...

You might end up killing head(s) this way ... Or get damaged data ... Or .... Kill the drive for good ...

Then
In 15 min I solved this case. Lol. my 1st professional case with MRT .

Hot bios swap to

1 TB Sata 2060 771960 000 RevA WD10JPVX 22JC3T0
Isolate PCB preamp pins
Power on
Disable 411
power of
Remove isolate and screw PCB
power on
Solve slow responding
Power of power on
Enable 411
Power of on
And DE .

Perfect transfer rate .
)

**I do not remember exactly whenj I did screw again PCB . I write as I remember.
I don't use LDR as someone said before

And there is no 5C in module list. I checked module list in hdd after repair.
I San see all of SA modules fine. HDD some bad sectors. But allow to recover 140 mbs

I have 2 hdd has same PCB number. I tried another one before I guess. So it wasn't work before as last one

I will try to demonstrate again after recover all data. I will record steps to help me future .

Hi everyone.
I'm stuck with problem like this. I have WD10JMVW with USB 3.0.
Via USB device menager sometimes shows it as WD MY PASSPORT 0820, but most of time it's just unvisible.
Head and motor are working almost fine. There is wired buzzing when work but i hear head trying to "read data". It's not stuck in pads i'm sure.

I tried to solder cables for sata conection ... and here it is.
I have everthing prepared but mobo its also not see this drive in BIOS so... question is witch resistors i have to resolder to SATA lines ?
I'll be grateful for any help.

Thanks guy's.

There is no adapter per se. The conversion from SATA to USB is all built into the drive. There are two resistors that you can generally remove and solder into the SATA lanes if you must do it that way. However, it's generally easier to just transfer the ROM or ROM code to a matched SATA board. I've been keeping an updated list of compatible SATA boards on this thread: https://www.data-medics.com/forum/wd-pa ... e-t13.html

However, you'll likely find that by bypassing the USB bridge the data will be encrypted. So you'll need to have a method for handling the encryption afterward.

Data-Medics already showed you, here. They are capacitors, not resistors, by the way.

Hi.

I tried to connect this drive in to sata by soldering in to capacitors place but it doesn't worked.

I odered new PCB form aliexpres, i have hotswap chip U14 and U12 to new PCB and now disk is working propetly... i mean the voice of it but OS doesnt see it.

When disk is pluged in to USB diode on PCB is blinking.

Can any one tell my what else i can do with this drive to restore data from it ?

Send the drive to a reputable data recovery firm ....

At this point is the only cheaper vialble option that you do have.

If you keep on hammering the drive you will cause more damages and the price of recovery will go up ...

By the way there is no point in replacing the USB PCB by another USB PCB .... PCBs most likely are just fine (both) and you did risk to toast the ROM chips for nothing.

Most likely drive have bad blocks + firmware "slow issue" if not something worse like media/head(s) damage.

Stop "playing" with it and consult with a reputable data recovery firm (NOT a regular computer repair shop) near you if data is important .

Regards and good luck.

A)1 TB usb 3 2060 771961 001 RevA WD10JMVW 11AJGS1
B)1 TB Sata 2060 771960 000 RevA WD10JPVX 22JC3T0

I replaced B Rom to A usb PCB .
MRT read all modules and ROM over only USB connection to computer. Also read and write module working. And I tried to convert it to sata 771959 pcb. I cannot get modules and rom. But I get them from 771961 usb pcb.

I tried with A original ROM . MRT Not read modules and rom over usb connection
It's very very strange.

So there must be a way to read WD USB drives modules over usb

Another case
I replaced A rom to 771959 pcb . In Windows drive seeing raw. But with original USB pcb it look NFTS and normal.

I have backed up rom file. I don't know why there are 2 different rom file in my back up folder. Maybe I get other rom file after some trying . 2 rom files different. I checked it. I use different ROM files in this case. I ll try with same ROM file .
But I don't understand why windows see RAW .

And another case.
Sometimes hdd gone .
1) I used MRT WD section to write A ROM to 771959 pcb. Rom died.
Zone table error . Mod 2 or mod 3 error .I can read Modules with usb . But cannot read with sata . And Again I Delsoldered chip. Rewrite rom with MRT eprom card. And hdd again turned normal.

2)- I tried to change settings "Enable Cache" in logic scan screen.
Rom died.

In both case
Delsoldered U12 . Used MRT eprom card. Cheked Rom full FFFFFF . I deleted rom. Writed backup rom file to U12 chip. And soldered again. It works again.
