Probably he uses some sort of in house tool instead pc3k.
At this point i don't know yet if pc3k is really able to build ldr for hitachi arm drives (need a response from someone who has it).
If pc3k can't, maybe drHDD tool can.
:D

I did remote job and I tried to make and use loader on pc3k. It was kind of working.
I tried to make loader from your modules, but they have names in different format. If you rename it at least in pc3k format I will make loader for you.

Can you do me one for me as well ? I would like to try it out ! Let me pick up an ARM drive. Does it have to be one without copy F or would this work even on drives with copy F ?

One of the guy in my area, backed up ALLRESOURCES, THEN played with SA by DFL tool. During play the drive stopped working and he was unable to fix it by DFL.

But I was able to restore the drive by PC3K with his backed up resources after he sent me

I don't see why you have difficulties here. PC3k can do loaders. Just ask somebody to create loader from drive with same firmware like your drive has. Upload loader to drive and write original modules back.

Ups, I forgot - pc3k most likely encrypt their loaders. They usually do it for that kind of stuff.

Loader creation is called "Off-line start resources" when you do HDD resources backup.

Can someone please use that function of PC-3000 to create a off-line start resources file and post that file + model of the drive where it was used ?

Thanks.

WOW !!!!

Justa quick test ...

I did try to load your loader with download microcode from HRT,

It DOESN'T work with 01 - Temporary, 0F - Hard and FE - Without Recall but IT DOES WORK with 07 - Permanent !!!!

Now i will try PCB only + spin down + place pcb + spin up + loader + read SA ....

SeDiv can do it as well !!!

I think SeDiv uses mode 7 (it doesn't let me select mode 3). With HRT only mode 7 works. I can put whatever command i want with HRT but i don't think 3 will work ...

At any rate this "loader" do load with both SeDiv latest version and HRT.

VERYYYY COOOOLLLL !!!!

IT DOES WORK GREATTTTT !!!!

1- Damage USAG by reading USAG and changing for example first byte to 00.

2 - Write USAG to all copies of HDD.

3 - Power off/on. Now drive can't ID neither read/write modules even if MAP is correctly loaded/known. Even manual HRT VSC to read modules fail !!!!

4 - Load posted loader for my drive. Loades ok, now modules are accesible. With HRT i can read damaged USAG with first byte changed and fix it !!! Drive works again !!!

:D :D :D

Here we can see the damaged USAG !!!

For some strange reason loading the loader with HRT is WAY FASTER than loading it with SeDiv. At any rate it does work both ways (with SeDiv and HRT).

Tested !!!

:D

Now the only problem is to get loaders for other drives ...

It's the download microcode option. It uses STANDARD ATA COMMAND - Not VENDOR SPECIFIC. Works just fine with option 07 - permanent. Tested with HRT universal utility. Just use the download microcode option to send the loader to the drive .... Problem is to get loaders or make loaders from modules ...

I'm studying the LDR file, you might try to build LDR manually for other hitachi arm drives too...

I attached instructions on how to build ldr manually, but i'm not sure if is correct, in particular i'm not sure about first 200 (hex) bytes
