Today I would like to share my experience with hddsuperclone.
I got a old wd hard disk for cloning which was from automation equipment.
It was in working condition (win xp sp3) but being old & already having bad sectors it could have failed anytime.
I cloned it using dedicated standalone hardware cloner , cloning completed successfully however target disk did not booted.
I cloned same disk again in UDMA with only 1 skipped sector and 1 defective sector. This time disk even didn't showed partitions.
Finally I tried hddsuperclone & it was successful with OS running perfectly.
moral of the story is sometimes a freeware can do wonders & $7000 device may not work.
Hddsuperclone has matured & is getting updated with newer features.
I am planning to buy pro in near future but I am hopeful maximus after reading this nice review will give me one pro license free :D

I'm curious to know, what was the dedicated standalone hardware cloner? And, what do you mean, cloned again in UDMA?

You mean UDMA means the old UDMA or the newer UDMA-E? Either way, this should be a perfect clone, short the missing sectors. My only guess is that you didn't re-enable the MBR so that the clone drive would be bootable.
I don't know much about the YEC Ninja, but my understanding is that they aren't very good for unstable drives.

I am curious of make and model of the hard drive. Maybe it was so old it was CHS only and did not have LBA capability? XP was after that era, but maybe the old drive was upgraded? Yes, I do like to think that HDDSuperClone is awesome! But sometimes I like to know why (so I can prove it) :D

The Clones Sometimes Have MBR's Locked Using a Technique That Changes MBR Signatures ,

hi yes its UDMA-E , I dont recollect about MBR , but will give it a try again. Yes this cloner is designed for healthy drives with small defects only.

Yeah, that drive is not that old. So it would seem that maybe your hardware cloning tool is not good for handling a disk with reads errors as has been stated. So maybe your hardware tool is just not super :)
