Hello,

I am not familiar with Pendrive data recovery but I need to look at that one for my family.

Chip Genius see this, I had a look and there's a couple of Innostar tools to fix the Pendrive but I would loose the data. I don't care about the Pendrive, only the data.
Is there a better way than chip-off for such case ?

Hi,
Try using DMDE. If it sees the drive, try making an image of the whole disk (not partitions) and then running data recovery software on that image. Software such as Recuva, GetDataBack or R-Studio for example.

I think this is my guide to make an image, halfway down the page: https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=33080&p=230608&hilit=DMDE#p230608

What we are doing is ignoring what the drive or windows thinks the partitions/file system should be and copying the whole disk. then letting the data recovery algorithms that are written to account for damage to these to do it's work.

if you get I/O error when trying this, then likely either electronic repair of the drive or chip off will be the main options

Then my last sentence applies. I would say controller issue. Get many IS916 faulty drives. Usually not too bad for chip off recovery.
if it is a USB3, you could try wiring just a USB 2.0 to the applicable contacts. I haven't had a contender for this to try it, but I am curious to see if it might read from USB2. The drive must be working somewhat as Chip Genius can read NAND ID.
if you can dump the chip/s I can look at the dump to do chip off for you.

There is a slight possibility there is something wrong with the electronics of it
