I have this hard drive that that is password locked on max. I need to get the data off this drive without erasing the password. I have tried MHDD with no success, but also I didn't have any specific scripts for this drive either. I just bought a flashcat with hopes that I could flash a custom firmware to the eeprom of the drive, but I have yet to really begin looking for custom firware.
I figured that I should consult with the experts here before I go and attempt to do anything that could ruin the data integrity.

I thank you all very much

I just downloaded it. The readme not in plain text.
Where do I run this zu.exe from?

Could you please give me a little more information about this?

Only DOS.
RUSSIAN LANGUAGE
google translator:

In the previous release (ZU.Betta1.1), simple methods of removing passwords were practically exhausted.
To remove the password on HDD HGST / IBM and Native Hitachi (series _DK23DA, _DK23FA ..)
they will have to be translated into the so-called SafeMode.
Support for working in this mode is also implemented in ZU.Betta 2.0.
Since the screws go into this specialized mode at different times (for example, Native Hitachi
up to 2 minutes), then for convenience, now at the start of ZU, the timer starts.
a message of the form ELAPSED 00:00:22 (00:00:23 ..) in this case, naturally, a readiness poll occurs
on the channel specified by the parameter. Stop such polling if it lasts an indecently long time,
by simply pressing any key. The work of the prg will be finished with the message UNLOCK NOT DONE.
To distinguish between vendors, 2 specifiers are introduced
"." for HGST / IBM
"8" for Native Hitachi.
That is, the command line will look like
ZU / S. battle :) with HGST on Secondary channel
ZU / P8 shooting from NativeHitachi on Primary
Transfer to SafeMode is done in different ways.
From setting jumpers for PATA (on HGST) to "short-circuiting" NVRAM or special points on the PCB.
In general, you can just try to supply power to the controller unscrewed from the HDA.
(or unscrew 2 bolts on the controller from the side opposite to the interface and slightly raise it
toothpick :))

After ZU detects the disk and attacks it, prg. will signal for
NativeHitachi with the message "NOW YOU CAN SCREW IT IN.PRESS ANY KEY WHEN READY".
HGST with the message "POWER OFF / ON AND EXECUTE ZU AGAIN".
In the first case, you just need to [put the controller in place] carefully return the bolts
and press any key.
In the second, turn off the power, screw the controller, supply power to the HDD and start ZU
again with the same special.
For IBM / HGST (ExcelStore) models from DTLA to HTS7225xxK9SA00 (5K250) are supported
(dozens of models)

Not yet supported:
notebook HDD with suffix A300 (A301). (e.g. 5K500 B-250.HTS545025B9A300)
(they have a blue controller and 9 bolts)
3.5 "with suffixes 332/362. (Ex. HDS721010CLA332, HTS721032CLA362 ..) [these are kaming sung,
as soon as there are enough for experimentation.]

P.S. Fixed bug for Samsung Rubicon.

Unfortunately, from my understanding, is that will remove the password completely from the drive. Is that correct?
I need the password still in tact after dumping the contents of the drive.

That doesn't sound sketchy at all. Why do you need password to stay? Forget about flashing firmware, this is not a Nokia phone. What you asking is possible but not with free tools.
