Hello everyone,

I got this Intel M2 yesterday from a member of my family. SM controller 2258G. I search on this forum for those reference, no luck.

None of the chips get really hot, Sata to controller capacitor are ok.

does anyone know if there's a terminal access on those M2 ? ( I missing conventional drives :? )

I tried to mount it using USB to M2 adatper, nothing (If I connect CX1-GB512 M2, it mount directly).
I tried on PC3K but goes BSY, I don't think this model is supported however I am not sure exactly how Intel define model... PC 3K support (Postville 320 & 710 series and X25 & X18) and one Intel Marvell 510 series.

The print on the PCB suggests that it is designed for the "Loyd Star" codename.

Wikipedia's references to this family identify the controller as Silicon Motion SM2256 ???

I suspect that the two test point at the top right corner of the first photo may be for "ROM mode". The left pad appears to be connected to a pullup resistor, in which case it should be safe to short it to ground. But you'll need to verify that for yourself.

If you can't reach ROM mode, then look for electronic faults.

AFAICT, "technical" access is via SATA.
