My Maxtor 6Y160P0 has a lots of bad sectors which I "repaired" using mhdd and other programs. After this operation there is one problem with SMART:

Reallocated Sector Count 1 1 63

...so smart status is alert . Has someone any idea how to repair this error ? or maybe is any way to change this attribute to correct ..or something else ?

If you reset this attribute, you will have all your defects back.

Well, you can kill the smart at all by erasing smart module from firmware. I don't know other way

Try rewriting a new SMART module from drive with good SMART status.

Why not?
First move G-List to P-list, and write good SMART attrib module.

If you have remaped all bad blocks from you HDD just run the Maxtor utility Powermax - its short diagnostic (90 seconds test). It will automatically reset the SMART attributes.

G-LIST means grown deffect list and P-LIST means primary deffect list. The fact that you are asking such a question means that you are not able to solve the problem by yourself. Please find a specialist to do the job for you! Otherwise you can damage the HDD.

That could be done by clearing G-List...

Here is what I would do:
1. Clear G-list,
2. fill the drive with zeroes,
3. check it for bads.
and if it worked, I would cool it hard in the rest of its life!

if it still contains bads, I would place it on my shelf maybe some day I can use its heads or other parts, hehehe

the most of sectors are created by writing errors caused by overheating, and if U re-write all the sectors with drive cooled, you can get rid of them.
I wrote to erase Glist just to re-write the original sectors that became bad and not the reallocated ones.
There is nothing to worry about it, if they cannot be repaired by this method, the drive will re-assign them on the next try to read them.
