Hi Guys,

Do you have any idea how can I remove ATA password from
a HITACHI HTS424040M9AT00. I have PC3K, ISA and PCI versions but either
supports this model for password removal.

I appreciate Any hint or advise.

PC3000 PCI 2.27 has this model in the list.
To unlock you have to disconnect PCB from HDA, set safe mode, read NVRAM, change byte 9 to 0x00, write NVRAM back. Then connect PCB back to drive, enter the utility and rewrite module ISEC. After that write back original NVRAM and that's it.

Hi Starling,

Thank you very much for the procedure. You have mentioned that
I have to write back the module ISEC, I did not find such module in
the modules list. Did you mean module ICES?
If you have this module in your data base may I have a copy?
I do not have donor drive in the stock right now.
I already have changed the byte 9 of NV-RAM from 01 to 00
and wrote back to the PCB in safe mode.

regards
Pninja

You can read original clean ICES module from Factory copy and write it to Copy0.
