Hi,
I have the same problem as everlost and I don't have any external hard drive. I'm trying to fix a Toshiba MK6021GAS drive in a HP pavillon zv5000 and can't finish a scan+erase delay ON because of the log file size. Is there any other solution to this problem ?? Can I specify a NO log option to MHDD or can I set a larger log file size

Thank you for your help

Hi,

I just wondered what the sense is in opening a new forum when we have a fully functional one here.

Hello Gurus,
Does MHDD4.6 support Intel ICH8R controler? I try to run it in my machine but can't detect any drive.

HardDiskBug, Thanks for the kind words, they help! :)
Yes, it will be a freeware. And by "soon" I mean "by the end of this year"

Ian DD, Try to disable ACHI mode in BIOS.

Hi, i'm from Russia so first of all i want to excuse for my English level. I've got some bad blocks on my notebook hdd so i'm trying to use mhdd ver 4.6. So here is the problem: when i use the ERASE command mhdd stops working at about 20% with a blue screen (fatal error or critical, i don't remember). So i tried /DISABLEBIOS switch and erase works in PIO mode. But no luck, i' ve got this error: can't write on drive (broken drive?). But i know now what was the last successful written sector (19420035). The most interesting (for me) is that SCAN+ERASE WAITS and SCAN+remap work fine, but there was some warnings (may be they just skipped errors?). I've got only 2 ideas:
1. buy a new notebook hdd
2. try to use ERASE again but starting from the last successful written sector +1 (19420036)
Whatever, what should i do now? Thanks.

i decided not to wait for the answer because i think i'm nothing to lose now :) and i started the erase command from 19419700 sector. i'm wondering now why i didn't get the same error and erasing is still continuing... and if erase' ll finish with no error what should i do next? scan+erase waits and remap or erase again starting from zero sector?

Hello,

I have read the FAQ and manual for MHDD and been experimenting with it. I do however still have a few questions:

1. Will using TOF or ATOF to create a bin file then allow me to use that file to recover its "contents"? If so, how please?

2. When trying to create a *.bin file I only seem to be able to save to the ram drive, none of my other NTFS drives show up as being available to save to - how do I fix this or make the drives available to write the bin files to?

Thanks

-Al

Mhdd is free and can be downloaded from the files section on the hddguru site.
Its just software, and has some nice features, but not to compare with PC3K or atola.

Best regards,

Dobre

Hi guys,

I'm checking out MHDD, and for whatever reason both mhdd 4.5 and mhdd 4.6 are locking up when i try to do just about anything to a drive I'm playing around with.

I can issue a couple of commands such as 'rpm' and 'stop' but if I try to init the drive again, or detect drive settings, or even read from the disk, I never get a return to a prompt and nothing happens. the only resort is to just reboot the computer.

I've checked the faqs, and from what i've gathered this can be caused by a few things such as:

1) Lack of free space (using on a 10gb drive with almost 10gb of free space)
2) all files are readonly (ran attrib -r *.* on all files)
3) use of primary master port on the computer is disabled by mhdd. (I moved the drive to secondary slave)
4) ide controller not supported by mhdd (afaik, mine isn't one of the ones in the list)

any other tips / suggestions? it should be noted that the drive I'm working with is a good drive, no problems etc. figured that'd be an easier thing to start with!

Thanks!
-Chris

Just found that information of today:
tip-drive-refuses-imaged-when-connected-internally-t11914.html

Try your tests with a different pc respectively different mainboard.

Does MHDD do an "enhanced secure erase" like HDDErase? As in, is it also wiping remapped blocks?

I apologize if this message is inappropriate to this forum. I regret that I find the site difficult to understand. I have not often used forums like this to solve my problems although it appears to be very informative. I also regret that I am not conversant in all the language of hard drives. I hope I am in the right place to find help for my problem.

I have a Maxtor Personal Storage 3200 500 GB drive. I have used it with both my PC and my MAC but now it's plugged into my MAC which is the computer I'm using more and more. I can read all the data on it but cannot write to the drive. I would like to find out how to unlock it.

I have other drive problems which I would like to address once I find the proper place to speak about them but my first priority now is to find out about the Maxtor.

Please help.

Thank you.
