I really did not expect to see old hd doctor support hitachi 5450A7 family but modern mrt professional hd tool not support hitachi 5450A7 family (I tried many models of this family none of them supported by mrt) I checked pc3k and dolphin dfl both support this family so it leaves mrt the only tool probably not supported this.

I don't have any 660 here but i do have one 680 (5450A7 family) - HGST HTS545050A7E680 and as you can see SeDiv doesn't have any problem with it :

It's VERY STRANGE that MRT doesn't support this family ...

Did you try with universal ARM tool (assuming MRT does have something like that) ?

Uhhhmmm....

Maybe MRT can't work with E660 ...

Try with E680, E380, etc and see if MRT can work with those drives at all ...

Both E380 and E680 not supported also with the "basic access method" I think all XXXXA7 not supported.

Maybe the problem is just with the "techkeydata" ... Maybe MRT doesn't know the "Super ON" for those specific drives ...

I wouldn't expect that SD and even SeDiv would work on those drives while MRT does not ...

MRT does support it by the look of things, as it display the family correctly. The problem might be incorrect "techkeydata" !!!

What i'm saying is that it's not lack of support, it's BUG !

I think that MRT is sending the WRONG "Super ON" ATA command ("techkeydata") to the drive and because of that it can't access to modules !!!

On Select Family : You see correct family in MRT LOG so it's supported, but (MAYBE) because of BUG wrong "Super ON" is sent by MRT and you can't access anything SA related.

A while back, I was able to show (MRT support) them via a remote session that A9 was not supported either. A healthy drive that I was able to backup the SA and read with no problems (a few bad sectors) on PC3K, but MRT would refuse to read allow for SA access, no matter which utility they tried...and they tried them all. Although there is no A9 series, my guess is that it should read via the universal utility or even the A7, if there weren't a glitch somewhere.

"techkeydata" For A9 is NOT THE SAME used on A7.

You can't read modules on A9 with utility for A7.

Universal utility should allow reading of LBAs like DE should allow extraction of data, etc ... but Vendor Specific Commands like reading SA require "Super ON" or "techkeydata" and those do change from family to family on IBM/Hitachi/HGST Arch M24 and ARM. It's almost one diferent "Super ON" for each family. A7 utility will send Super On that will work only on A7, A9 drive will not enter Techno Mode with A7 super on and you can't read SA !

I don't know why you can't read LBAs (assuming that you can't) as that is done with standard ATA read commands.

DE can access lba fine. It is a matter of not accessing the SA on MRT. sorry for the brain fart about intermixing families...thinking non arm families while talking about arm families.

Even on Arch M24 (non ARM) each family will use it's own Super On as well so it's the same "problem" ....

If MRT (or whatever other tool) doesn't know the "super on" for the specific family it will NOT read SA at all. The VSCs to read SA will be the same but if you don't send the correct Super ON then there will be no acess at all and you will not be able to read SA at all even if the other VSCs are correct and valid.

I should have mentioned,MRT didn't select the family like he does automatically in A9,I select it manually.

Did you try to put a checkmark on that box - Tech-Key detection ? The problem is indeed related with the fact that MRT is using WRONG Tech-Key for those drives and because of that it can't access SA....

Complain to MRT Tech Support or buy alternative tools to compensate for the problems with MRT ...

That MRT tool does have a lot of problems / bugs in particular with the Samsung tool and it looks like the HGST tool is not that good as well.

Again you can use or old SD tool or get something like SHTR to compensate for MRT Samsung tool problems and SeDiv for Hitachi to work with HGST drives that you can't access with MRT ...
