Hello,
Can anyone please help me how to find compatible ROM to this drive? PCB of patient is bad and I want to avoid soldering. I tried about 10 different ROMs of size 512 Kb, but nothing works. The ROM has maybe size of 256 Kb.

DATE 21 OCT 2010

If you have any advice how to solve this case, please let me know.

Have seen a lot of bad Helios drives, but not many pcb´s - whats wrong ?

If you have PC3000, have you tried to read ROM by COM-port?
Or the PCB is 100% dead?

Why? resoldering ROM to e good electronic board is the chipest and best solution.

Adaptives are stored on ROM as well as ROM code so you do need original ROM and you can't just use ROM downloaded from the net unless you adapt some of the ROM modules by using some tricks ...

If you do want to avoid soldering use this method :

External programmer + SOIC 8 clip ...

Assuming of course your drive have external ROM chip ...
