So I have a drive that I believe has a burnt out motor controller chip (drive does not spin up at all):

http://wd1200jb.freewebspace.com/images/hd_full.jpg

That isn't a picture of the drive in question but the same chip is burnt out on my pcb. The parameters on my drive are as follows:

Model: WD400BB-22JHC0
DCM: DSCHNTJCH
PCB#: 2060-70292-000 REVA (etched)
PCB#: 2061-701292-000 AK (on IDE connector)

A user on ebay (hdd-darius-solutions) told me that matching the dcm/pcb on this particular model makes no difference because of the Marvel chipset? Everything I've read thus far suggests that the closer a match the higher the likelihood success. So, prior to making another purchase (never received the drive I bought from ledisquedur.com by the by) I'd like the input of the gurus here. Thanks a lot as the drive has many, many pictures of friends and family on it.

Regarding the ledisquedur.com... It took about 2 weeks or so but I did recieved what I paid for. They send it to me via Priority. It looks like they waited for about a week but when they send it, it took about 5 business days to get here in USA!!!

Russwinters or anyone that would know, does that mean that I can get any drive with the correct PCB#: xxxx-701292-xxx xx on the IDE connector and transplant the u12 chip with reliability? I only ask as it has been grueling trying to locate one that matches exactly.

Hmm that is strange about ledisquedur then. I originally ordered the drive on April 15 and aside from an email confirmation about the order, I haven't heard anything since. I've tried emailing the proprietor but their email address is no longer valid and I get bounce-backs. Their Contact Us link on the site doesn't function and errors out on me. You can see why I'm a bit iffy on them but I appreciate you sharing your experience with them.

Yep... I just tried to send an e-mail and it came back... Hum. I wander what's going on.
You don't have to match DCM on this PCB swap. If you want to match as much as possible, match the exact model# and the motor #. Main thing is the ROM @ u-12
