Well this is extremely frustrating you guys, I had two Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200.11 HDD's. Over 2 weeks ago one of it died, by died I mean not detected by either BIOS or well it had my OS so it didn't boot either. And now today, I see the second one dead as well !!!

Here are a few points to note -

1. My BIOS hangs for around 1 minute before going on ( tries to detect the HDD's )
2. My HDD's ARE spinning ! Because I opened the case and held them
3. I don't have heat issues, I have a CoolerMaster cabinet with 4 fans, system always runs around 40 degrees
4. I have another Seagate 750GB HDD which has been running perfectly for around 1 year
5. I purchased those two HDD's around 5 months back, so I can get them replaced but I don't really want to use them anymore

So is there any known problem with 500GB for seagate ?

Do search on this forum and you will find your answer. The 7200.10 and 7200.11 drives have more problems that one can explain in a posting. Read and search here and you will find out what the problem is on these drives. There is a search function and is easy to use and you will find all your answers to these questions and more. Good luck

Instead of sending you for a surch to end up with huge information:

7200.11 has a known firmware bug - which is most probably the problem with your 2 hdds.

if you dont need the data out of those 2 drives, then return it to your dealer
for a warranty replacement.

If you definitely need your data, then you have 2 choices:

If you are very, very, very - and again - very skilled in electronics, then you
will find a solution to solve that problem in this forum.....

--->> but:
if you have less a second a doubt on your skills
if your data is very important for you

then look for a real pro ( I mean definitely for data recovery !!!) in your area.
It shouldnt cost you more then $ 50,- to $ 100,- per drive - perhaps less in
your area - perhaps a little bargaining for 2 drives will help.

A DR pro is able to reactivate the drives without any data loss with that known
7200.11 problems.

After the data retrieval he should also make a firmware update on the drives,
otherwise they remain unstable.

@Nirvanowiec

YES, it is an open forum,
BUT its definitely NOT NECESSARY to push someone (most probably a normal user)
with his nose to these posts.

Do you feel well, that a newbie could now loose all his data?
Yes, its his decision to do it,
yes, the infos are freely available here in the forum
BUT you prepared the gun in front of this user ...

perfectly done

If you still can't fix your drives, i can fix them for free but you will have to pay shipment to and from Portugal.

I suggest to travel back and forth for a secure transportation
from India to Portugal and vice versa.

Thats just as clever as shipping 2 drives from India to Portugal and then
have all the customs clearance, tax payments, pro forma invoice etc.

When does it have an end?
Age 15 or around - first shout or write - and then think it over ...
