Hello there fellow HDD's gurus.

I have a Freeagent desktop 500Gb, inside of it is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500Gb(st3500620as).
The problem: when the drive is powered up, this sound begins and the PC won't detect the drive.

In your experience, you know what is going on here? how to fix it?

99% likely to be dropped/knocked and have stuck spindle.

And no, you can't fix it yourself. These particular drives with stuck spindle are very difficult even for pros.

It doesn't take much to get your spindle damaged... Dropp from a coffee table or even 2' would do or a little bump on the desk...

Spildit or Beto in this forum are pros and they are closer to you.

But, if you value your data, don't open it at home or in your office!!! Take it to a clean room and don't touch the platters or heads with your finger!!!!

@Caronte
Did you drop the drive or hit the drive ?
If heads are stuck on platters you have to find a way to "unstuck" them ...

Never hit or dropped this is the strange thing.
