First, i apologize for my poor english, i'm french.
I've a problem with my hard disk and i found this site and even it's hard for me to write and read in english, it seems to be a good knowledge base.
I've read this thread http://forum.hddguru.com/maxtor-6l250s0-possible-tripped-tvs-t9410.html and my problem is similar. On this page, a member immediatly found that the diode CR201 could be the reason. On my HDD, it's the same, the diode CR201 is burnt too.
The warranty of my HDD has expired, and i would like to try to repair it myself. But does somebody know the value of this diode ?

Just remove take your data off this drive and clone to new drive and replace. Might be fastest way to do this one or you have to find another pcb board with same make and model and remove one to replae this one too easiest way to do this one too.

I've understand (tell me if i'm wrong) that I can remove the burnt component (TVS diode). My drive will work so I can save my data. But it will no longer be protected.

So I can try to replace the component with this one http://uk.farnell.com/fairchild-semiconductor/smbj12a/diode-tvs-12v-600w-smb/dp/1017826 or find a new PCB, as poehere said.

If I understand well (correct me if I'm wrong) I could remove the broken component (TVS diode), the drive will work well but will not be protected anymore.

Yes, that should work. Take care of the polarity of the new TVS!
