Hey guys, I was hoping you can help me with a question.

I'm planning on doing a PCB swap for my Hitachi Deskstar that died like a month ago.

I found a replacement PCB that's from the same model and the first two lines on the PCB match up, which from the posts I've read, should mean that I'm good to go.

The thing is, the description also happens to mention Apple HDD Firmware 2007.

I'm running XP, so does this have any bearing on me at all, like it won't run?

Or that I have to swap out the rom as well as the nvram from the original to donor?

it wont work as its design for apple machine total diffrent commands.

try and find a hard drive version for pc systems.

you had to replacement the NV-RAM from original PCB to new PCB. good luck.

As the first two lines match then you "shouldn't" need a ROM swap, but you WILL require an NVRAM swap regardless.

So, is the NVRAM where the Apple HDD Firmware is located?

Is it the only difference between this PCB, and one taken from a HDD that was used with a PC?

I hope you guys can excuse the ignorance. I'm just trying to make sure I don't end up spending money on a board I can't use.

i thought it would not work as its a mac drive not a pc hard drive

Ummmm... what? Hard drives are hard drives, mac or pc still conforms to ATA spec.
