Hello all,
Due to failing PSU, an hdd went quiet (didn't spin, no heat emitted from PCB). Taking the PCB out for quick inspection, there was no visible damage.

Anyway, ordered & received new PCB. After installation, there's a clicking sound when turning power on (click click click click *short pause* *repeats*).

Checking both PCBs closely, some numbers on the chips differ. But that shouldn't be a problem right? What do you suggest to do now? I was thinking of moving the bios/U12 chip to the new PCB (with a professional electrician help). Your assistance is highly appreciated.

swap the rom

but it sounds to me headstack damaged as the hard drive has been damaged by a pc power supply
when this happens all the drives i had allso damaged to the headstack ic-chip

Thanks everyone. I needed to be sure before messing up something on hdd. Will update the topic with result once swapping is done.

Heya m8. Indeed move the ROM and if it does not help u - there might be damage to preamp. Head transplant for that. On a BB drive its gonna be fun fun fun. Best of luck to u.
