My Seagate 1TB External hard drive failed with Click of Death. When I switch it on, it starts spinning then a click, again I hear spinning sound, then a click and it repeats. It doesn't have very important data, but I somehow could not get the fact that I lost my data. I bought a similar internal drive and read lot of articles on repairing HDs, but still not confident doing it by myself. So, I am looking for some help in Southern California area. Please let me know. Thanks in advance!

In this case DIY = KIY
Sorry, but this cannot be done without the proper tools.
Forget about doing this yourself.

Sorry to bring bad news.

I think ThatDellGuy and or Russwinters from this forum are in Cali, you might want to contact them.

dobrevjetser, I know, that is why DIY is my last resort. If it is really expensive than what it is worth, then I wanted to do it.

Thanks quasimodo, I will contact ThatDellGuy and Russwinters.

The recovery price will likely be many many times over what the drive was worth.
