I have heard positive and promising things from numerous places online about this forum, so I have decided to give it a shot. :D
I have a WD HDD that I am sure has a bad PCB. It will not even attempt to spin up / power up. It had been sitting idle for a couple months before its untimely death. But power had been aligned to the computer the whole time, so maybe a voltage spike took it out (I don't know).

The data on the drive is "good to have" but not vital. It is definitely not worth expensive recovery costs. But if anyone has suggestions about fixing or replacing the PCB, I am willing to give it a try.

Here are some photos for you...

1) Replace the PCB.
2) Transfer U12 from patient to donor PCB.
3) Pray before power up to avoid (dead preamp, FW corruption, .... etc) :)
4) Power up.

Good luck

If you upload a detailed photo of the component side of the PCB, one of us will identify the components for you.
