Hi,

I have a WD Harddrive 2.5 from an Acer Travelmate 5720. Whenever booting it requires a HDD Password.

I haved asked Acer, then they can book it in and try and remove it. It's a 50/50 they say. They would suggest i purchase a new harddrive.

Is there no other way to do this?

Can some please assist me. Thanks!

Sorry, there is no other way

Either you played with the CMOS setup of this laptop - and set a password
by accident ....

or you have someone around you who did that

or its not your laptop.

The hdd password can only be removed either within your laptop if
someone knows it - or you have to got to a DR company to unlock
the drive. Thats the only way to get important data back !

I daubt that Acer is able/will unlock the drive.

If the data is not of value for you, buy a new hdd ( US$ 35.-)and
exchange the internal hdd with the new one. Remove the big
cover on the bottom of the laptop and you will see it immediately.

There is definitely no other way - trick - or guru advice ...

Or, you can use www.hddunlock.com if data is of no value.
If you need to preserve data, use http://hdd-tools.com/products/rrs/
