Hi,

If the drive stops responding because of the drive has bad blocks you will need to use specialist imaging hardware that can do both software or hardware resets of the drive & then continue imaging ie Deepspar DDI (lots of ££££) Not a DIY fix.
My advice is to take it to a PRO.

Anyway just for info:
You would need to get an image of the drive & then try & recover the data from the image.

If the MFT is corrupted testdisk might be able to repair it from the $Mftmirr.
If its too corrupted I think Runtime's Disk Explorer for NTFS on the image created then >Tools>Create Virtual Volume will try to rebuild the MFT (can anyone confirm this?)

Remember that if you try the DIY route & screw it up its your fault. Any data recovery costs would then be higher if the data can be recovered at all.
