I had several drives burn out, and did my first successful PCB swap on 1 of my Western Digital Caviar Black 1T's ... unfortunately, the other damaged drive has a different PCB... even though the model number is the same (wd100fals-00j7b1).

Can I use the bhy2 to replace my burnt out tfj2?

Can I damage my drive by trying? ( I can order one online, but would prefer not to wait a week).

Thanks in advance, first time here, but loved looking around the forum - lots of interesting stuff!

I believe "same processor" is a basic requirement for PCB compatibility. I'd be very surprised if it worked, best/easiest to just match PCB number.
