I stupidly connect the my samsung hd 322hj 320gb harddisk 4-pin power cable in reverse direction.
In other words, 5V->12V and 12V->5V.
Initially nothing happened. When i noticed i mis-connected the power cable, i re-plug the power cable again (within 1 min).
but now its not working
i gave it to a one of friend to reapair and what he did is just remove the burned thing and now i cant find what it is.
well all of my data including my class projects, rare music/movies, family photos, all have been lost
So if anyone in here (including Mr. Helper/ fzabkar ) can help me out it will be a great help.
hard disk:Samsung Spinpoint HD322HJ rev A

Check 5V TVS for short circuit first. It received 12V from power supply and it is the first suspect to destroy itself and 0 Ohm resistor. Replace if blown, or remove just for testing. Be carefull, there is no protection if you remove TVS.
After this, replace 0 Ohm resistor with 2A fuse and test if HDD is still working. Expect more damages.
