I have a Hitachi drive HDS721010CLA332 1TB which I cant access because it is password locked. According to Hitest the lock security is 'high'. Smart stats are OK.

I have tried unlocking ti with a couple of utilities but they say the model isn't supported. I dont know if it has a default password I don't know how I would enter it if it were.

Id like to unlock it if possible. Thanks in advance for any help.

Go to the nearest pro and be prepared to prove you are the owner of the drive / laptop / PC, you should get the job done with a nominal fee.

You likely won't get an answer HERE because we don't want unnecessary problems (* cough ! *).

If your data are not important, then try a secure erase. Some utilities will be aware of the default master passwords for various models.

Sensible and responsible reply, but I doubt they would work on any Hitachi drives (especially this one which is ARM based architecture) due to the different way the password is stored, compared to Samsung, Toshiba, Maxtor etc..

Worth a shot though if there's nothing to lose.
