I'm currently using a WD5000AAKX-001CA0 as primary drive and a ST500DM002-1BD142 (7200.14 gen) as secondary. My concern is the primary drive and the mentioned attribute.

I cloned all data from the WD to the ST and then I started to perform several read/write tests in order to prove the reliability of the drive. While performing the tests, this SMART value has increased (in a slowly manner) and now is set with a raw value of "11" (in decimal). Also the "Write Error Rate" has changed to the raw value "2" (in decimal too). Both normalized values still are set to 200 (the best) though.

Is this a reason for concern? or are these errors normal for the drive operation? I must say I've really pushed the drive to the limits as I did with my ST (in order to discover potential bad sectors), performing a lot of read/write tests with several programs, including MHDD, HD Sentinel, HDD Low Level Format Tool (from here), HDD Regenerator and Drevitalize. The Seagate behaved exemplary (as a result the Seek Error Rate normalized value has increased to 80 from 60) but I think the result for the WD was not as satisfactory as the ST. However, none of these drives have reallocated/pending sectors.

I can post the SMART attributes of the WD if you wish, but the rest of attributes have normal values. It's worth noting HD Sentinel still claims the WD is perfectly healthy (100%), as with the ST.

Anyone? Now the raw read error rate attribute is set to "16" (decimal). I'm starting to worry
