Hi. I got toshiba MK6025GAS 2.5 60gb HDD, is from defected HP nx6125 laptop, I get this disk and put in Dell Latitude D505 and then I got notice to unlock disk. I must say dell laptop has no set any bios or HDD password.

So I possible to somehow deisabled that password ?

I heard if replace firmware on HDD it will be erased password, but I got poor knowlage on this area.

Is any chance to put that HDD back in business ?

Thank you.

Hi. Thank's for tip. but I can find any usable solution. Is any how-to, I mean what kind devices I need, is laptop or desktop machine OK or I need expert hardware to do this ?

I search some bootable CD etc. with some kind unlock software, I try MHDD and Magic boot disk (both ISO version) and both not detected disk.

Thank you.

Some people have been successful using ZU software. Have to read around a lot and experiment.

Another thing is the "locking" state could have occurred for a number of reasons, such as:
1. the drive was purposely locked
2. the drive was never locked but a certain way of failing may cause it to show as "locked" now
etc.

All of these details are important in understanding first the problem/issue, and then and only then determining what the proper solution applies.

Sorry, there aren't any precised step by step manuals or anything like that with conventional, public available, hardware and software. There are advanced data recovery solutions that professionals specialize in and yes they are likely to easily resolve the problem for you, but it costs.

If want professional help, search for a specialized data recovery company using phone and google, get an idea of who can best serve your needs and go for it if deciding to do so.

Best wishes

Hi. thx for this post.

I must say, I dont care about data on HDD, I just wont use it in another working laptop.

Is any FREE solution to try (without special devices) unlock this disk, and if success OK. if not goes to trash.

Or is chance if I find mechanic damaged (no spin or click defect) same model and change PCB board, if then chance to this problem disappears ?

Thank you again.
