This WD drive is from an external drive. It was in a MYbook essential if I remember correctly. One of my kids tripped over the usb cable or power cable. In the process the usb port on the back became loose. I took the HDD out and have it hooked up to a USB to SATA adapter. It is showing up unallocated and when I go to disk manager in windows it wants to allocate by giving me two options to format it to. I have scanned it with Minitool Partition Wizard, Find and Mount, and also bought Restorer Ultimate hoping to recover the files. Am I out of hope or maybe doing something wrong? Restorer Ultimate is finding the original files that come with the HDD from the factory but nothing on either of the partitions I had created. EVERYTHING I have is on the HDD. I only had the HDD out because I just finished copying all my files from both laptops to it to format them.

Any suggestions other than send it to a professional?

looks like I have a major problem. I have the hdd and that is it. I threw out the case and the PCB(USB PLUG) when it broke. I didn't know they were encrypted. Do I have any hope other than randomly buying the USB PCB till I find a match? Is there anyway to find out which one was on this hdd?

I was looking around on the HDD. The PCB on the hard drive is REV A, so should I get a USB REV A? Is there any other info I need?

from what I have seen on my drive, and what I read on this description, this should work correct? Looks like they updated it to work with pretty much any WD Essentials HDD? I sure hope I am right, and thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction.

The previous one was for 2. I only need one.

Thanks again.

If it is the same encryption controller it could work.
