I am trying to get a DOS bootable CD that can read my SATA DVD.
Make: ASUS SDRW-08D2S-U A601 (USB External)

Downloaded Magic Boot Disc v2.0 and burned CD. Boot in "USB Mass storage support"

Last lines:

ASPI Device: ID:0 LUN:0 = Generic Multi Card 1.00
ID:1 LUN:0 = ASUS SDRW-08D2S-U A601

Installed ASPI manager

Blinking cursor

How do I now access the drive? Any comment appreciated.

Have you tried running through the drive letters to see if it is actually working?

if you have a card reader, hard disks, flash drive in your system, the drive letter could be varying, so just try a few.

you say blinking cursor? What does this mean.. for example does it look like:

Code:
_

or

Code:
D:>

other?

if it is a, for example, D: prompt, try entering in E:(enter) then F:(enter) etc etc. If the drive letter changes to that letter, enter in dir(enter) and see if the file list is what should be on the DVD/CD. if it is, then the drive is working.
make sure you put in your drive a known valid boot disk, and make sure in your BIOS you have enabled boot from usb and any other boot options that look like they need to be enabled.

When your PC is booting, you may have to press F10 or F12 to get a boot menu, choos the drive then press any key to actually start the boot process.

Not sure of your knowledge in the area so forgive me if you already know most of that.

Have not tried running through drive letters. Will do!

Cursor looks like this _

No command prompt with drive letter.

I am booting from the Magic Boot CD through choosing Boot Device (MSI Wind U123 - F11)

Chose: ASUS SDRW-08D2S-U A601

Boot with "USB Mass storage support"
