My own personal WD15EADS backup drive won't spin up. I noticed it does get warm when there is power applied. I'm looking for a donor PCB, but it is a 2008 drive so I haven't had any luck on the donor parts sites.

The darn drive only has about 20hrs on it. Hardly ever used it...

The PCB is 2060-7716217.

Does this drive need the BIOS swapped when the PCB is swapped?

Aloha.

Yes, but the part number is incorrect. Is there an 8-pin IC at location U12?

Hi correct number is: 2060-771617...right.
That one does not have a ROM chip @u12, the ROM is masked in CPU. You pro help on that one.

Sorry guys - yes the correct number is 2060-771627.

No rom chip at U12 - guess I'm screwed.

Darn - and it is my own data..... I had a double backup drive failure and may have lost some pics of the kids.

I'll probably get some archive blu-ray disks next I guess.

Contact hdd-parts.com. They offer a PCB repair service for US$75. If your MCU is OK, then this may be a cheaper option for you.
