Hi,
I have a Red WD20EFRX NAS Drive that does not get detected in Windows at all.

Doesn't make any nasty sounds, is there any simple checks I can do to try and discover info about the fault? Data would be nice but not essential.

Is it detected OK In BIOS?

how did you connect drive to computer via sata or usb

it was not seen in disk manager tests the hdds!!

No, I do not do internal work on HDD. a bit of playing in Seagate Terminal, soldering under microscope broken boards etc is all. That's why I said any simple checks. Rather than throwing it away, I thought a quick post may show if it is worth spending any time, but as it doesn't detect, and I didn't think WD has terminal like the Seagate drives, a quick question wouldn't hurt. Especially as it sounds fairly normal, if a drive can sound "normal".

MHDD says "Drive is not Ready"

Try installing the drive's PM2 (Power Up In Standby) jumper. If the drive comes ready and identifies itself, then that will at least say something about the PCB.

You might also install the OPT1 jumper to reduce the SATA link rate just in case the drive is unable to negotiate a high speed link with your SATA host.

One other simple thing would be to clean the HDA contacts on the PCB.

Disable secondary channel in device manager. hot pluged drive and test it with SeDiV.
Just take care when you use SeDiV not to connect drive for diagnose on same channel, where is your primary drive
