I cant mount/retrieve the data inside the hdd. This hdd previously is used on a NAS storage. Any clue on how to retrieve the file?

Refer the image below, my computer can detect the drive. However, there is no 'file system' being detected by windows. The window using are window 7 Ultimate.

Maybe the data are encrypted.

Is there any way to decrypt it so that i will be allow to access the data on it? I have the username and password.

My NAS has four bay. There are 2 drive inserted. I wish to recover one of the drive. If i not mistaken, it is in JBOD.

Must guess as you didn't mention NAS maker: Most NAS are in EXT2 file format. To mount that type file system to windows use a product such as ext2fsd to begin.

It is very rare that I see each drive setup as their own JBOD...usually, at the very least, the main partition on each drive is merged together as a single JBOD. If the data is important to you, you may not want to risk playing with the drive too much and seek the assistance of your local data recovery professional while the cost to recover the data should be at the lower end of the pricing scale.

The maker of my NAS is seagate. The model is BlackArmor 400. I tried to mound using ext2fsd, but i cant access to the HDD. Check the picture below. I still cannot access to the drive.

Try UFSExplorer...if you can't see the file system with it, you will definitely need professional data recovery assistance.

I got the error message as attached.

I am able to see the file using this software. However, I am not sure the file can be read/usable since I do not have the license. Is it as long as I am able to detect the file using this software, the file should be able to retrieve if i have the license?

p/s: the HDD is still working.

The NAS does not include HDD. I purchase a 3.5'' HDD to be inserted to the NAS. I install 2 HDD inside the NAS, 1TB and 3TB.

Do you have any alternative software? Kindly advise me.

The reason I asked whether you could read the other drive was to determine whether the subject drive has a damaged file system, and whether the two drives have separate file systems.

to clarify few things:
you use this two drives in NAS (1TB and 3TB), total capacity was 1TB or 4TB?

Could you try Rstudio and try with RAID option
In any case, you will need to ourchase license for recovery.

In R-Studio you may try to preview files like jpg, pdf, MS Office, etc., in its demo mode, that is, before purchase.
And yes, you have to find whether this is a single drive, or a JBOD of 2 drives.
