Hi
any help would be greatly appreciated- i was shooting video on a xqd card, after the shoot, connected it to a pc , which had a shortcut virus on it and it made the directory structure disappear.
Had a basic easy recovery software and ran a raw scan on it and it was unable to find the files. Tried the sony software and it was able to recover 50gb of data. Now the problem is the sony softwarehas made .dat files of everything and nothing i try can convert it to.mxf format we were shooting on. The card is with sony india now but i am very anxious if someone would know of any software/hardware which can help recover the data.
The card could have gotten corrupt in 3 ways - when we took it out of the camera and the camera was still on, when we connected it to the pc with the virus(though the shortcut virus is generally harmless) or 3 there is some physical damage to the card.
Let me know if someone has any inputs/leads.
Thanks

The first step should have been to take a complete sector image of the card - not even worrying about files/filenames/partitions or other.

thihs is still a step that's possible, though video can be very hard to recover even when the recovery goes well and would have been successful for files such as .jpeg.

I don't think software is going to do much else, but I would only recommend R-Studio and GetDataBack.

Excellent, well done. So make sure you have an untouched backup of that file. and always work on a copy. If the file format is what these resources pertain to: http://www.digitalpreservation.gov/formats/fdd/fdd000013.shtml you might be able to customise R-Studio to give you a better recovery. But a quick glance makes me think this is a job for someone with good file carving skills.
I am willing to look at the disk image if you wanted to .rar it up into 100MB multi-part archive and upload it to my server.
