I have some Seagate Exos X20 drives in a RAID array. I have the machine that they are in set to not automatically put the drives to sleep, which means that they are running 24/7. However, I have been checking the S.M.A.R.T. status of all of them and, while neither the Start/Stop count nor Power cycle count have increased since I started the drives, the drives have been gaining at least one Load/Unload cycle each day, and all at the same time. Why is this happening? I doubt that these drives are like Western Digital's 5,400 rpm drives that automatically park the actuator after either a few seconds for WD Blue (formerly WD Green) drives or a few minutes for WD Red drives (these register as Load/Unload cycles.)
