According to my experience , Samsung HDDs are the best choice for mid-end computers, reasonable price and very good manufacturing / quality standards. Anyway, we have seen that many SP0822 are prone to fail in such manner, suddenly and with no prediction (i.e. SMART thresholds) : the drive is operational, and after power off / on cycle knocks and then spin down.
I think this could either be a firmware issue (corruption of the loadable part of the software) or a head stack assembly / preamp failure but I am waiting to have some similar HDDs to make investigation (authopsy) for the failure.
Regards.

Hi Pepe,
You said the problem is with the head. Do we need to change the head or is there a easier way to get data?

Thx

Hi,

It is easier to take it to a DR company :)
Apart from the joking, I don't see other choice than replacing the heads.
Or U may read the good parts and try to recover as much as possible from that one.

regards,
pepe
