i had this harddisk toshiba mk3021gas in my laptop. it was taking a lot of time to detect the harddisk on bootup and used to fail in the hdd test in bios. so i replaced it wid a new seagate hdd and put the toshiba one in a usb casing. i ran the hdd scan wid erase option and saw many red blocks but not a single bad block. then i performed the low level format and the drive is now usable.

the problem however is that the drive gets random read/write errors. when i transfer a file to or fro from the hdd, i get a read/write error. since there are no bad blocks in the hdd i can't remap those sectors. i put the hdd on my laptop and ran mhdd, i got the same results. some 7 red blocks or so. how do i make sure that data is permanantly never written to any of these blocks? i dun mind sacrificing some storage space to completely block these storage areas. toshiba doesn't provide any diagnostic utility. please help.
