I'm receiving large quantities of these drives for recovery.

1. They are all Momentus 5400.2
2. They are all manufactured in China
3. They are all Firmware 7.01
4. Practically all of them are out of Mac computers

I'm receiving more of these drives than Maxtor, Western Digital and all Travelstars. It has also started happening over the past two weeks - since, say, just before Christmas 2006.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone have a fix?

yes, firmware corruption, use terminal to fix
