I would appreciate a lot if you could give me a link or send firmware for Maxtor Diamond Plus 9 80Gb 133/2Mb 6Y080L0. It is visible in bios as Calypso III (not as originally Maxtor Diamond Plus) and I had electricity problem which made my drive of of the function. All instructions and software about reparing firmware are the most welcome.

This is where u will find firmware :

U would need pc3000 or salvation data to fix the drive .

no other method even if u get a freeware for repairing firmware its not good enough and if u dont have experience and good knowledge of hdd then its very risky to work with the firmware of the hdd as u could destroy the hdd.

Thank you for reply. After making few more checks it was directed to thought that my heads were not reading anymore. tharefore, would you tell me information what heads I could use to swap with mine. The Maxtor model I have is

DiamondMax Plus 9
Model: 6Y080LO
Firmware: YAR41BWO

What about models 6Y080M0 or something like that.

Read the Head stack article it will help u alot
http://hddguru.com/content/en/articles/ ... k-Q-and-A/

and if the hdd is showing Calypso in bios it could also be a firmware problem how could u be so sure that it is a head problem ?

What I can say for sure is that I am confused right now. PoweMax from Maxtor site says it is Read Write failure and I concluded it could be head problem. If it is firmware, how could I know until somebody try to repair it somehow. It is obvious that I do not know how, fully aware that I do not have that pc-3000 peice. Do you have suggestion about some diagniostic method.

If the hdd show Maxtor Calipso and is not clicking when starts then there is a chance that it is not a head problem . if u need to diagnose what is the real problem y can do that by pc3000 only .
