u can only regenerate translator and add defects to plist in these drives also selfscan will work but writing modules and switching off heads wont work with these drives because they are not supported by isa completly .

It's not a good idea, for me, unless you have money and time to waste. But someone has to do something ...
The reasons (for me)
1) India has 2-digit economic growth, but remember : from 1 to 2 $ is 100% and we are still talking about 1 or 2 $. Where do we want to go ?
2) Your country is flooded by poor quality standards new drives (to keep prices low, maybe) and there is a overwhelming amount of OLDER and OLDEST drives that people still use and want to use even after they are completely died... Check profit margins accurately.
3) Poor market. People usually cannot afford a DR decent standard rate, unless you will work with corporate market (and I am still doubtful),so you'll have to keep low prices and this will affect market itself and margins.
My conclusion : make an accurate business plan before complaining later, and work on BIG numbers (volume).
I have more things to say but I will tell you personally.
In any case congrats for the decision and wish you every success.

There is a huge ratio of drives becoming bad , repair and sell them .
