 Post subject: 6Y120L0 REWRITED ALL MODULES- what now???????

Hello, During repair of my maxtor 6y120l0 I made a huge mistake, by rewriting all modules on the drive, and now I can't controll him anymore, it has a clicking sound, but it is recognised in bios like yar43kjz...... please help

You have to write original modules back.
If you don't have them saved and you don't need data, try a selftest.

Yes, you have to rewrite the original/compatible modules back unless the drive has not lost it's adaptive info for writing (Because you have rewrited the adaptives modules too). You can check it with compatible loader. If it passes the writing test, there is some light of hope and if it doesn't pass the writing test the the matching loader even, you are screwed.

I don't have original modules, only to find some compatibile,I only have original loader, but it's realy hard to write any module now, because hdd is clicking, and when I want to write modules, hdd just say BSY state and stay blocked.......

If data is not important, you can start with loader and ram, and start selfscan from ram this will rebuild adaptives. Otherwise, if data WAS important... It's a bit difficult. The drive has alt-sa?

the data is not important, but I'm new in this job, i need more information how to start selfscan of hdd....
yes it has alt-sa,and I need some compatibile modules for PC3000 ISA if anybody have it....

For selfscan and all the rest is all in the manual. I have developed other solutions i.e. for selfscan, modify script etc. . If you start ss from sa-c it will rebuild sa.
