ill mention my problem in detail so that no info which might be vital to solving the problem is missed out...

i had 2 files sitting on the desktop, one an html file with live links in it (my bookmarks) and the other a word version of the same ....both mysteriously disappeared 2 days ago (only the shortcuts now exist in the 'recent documents' folder)
after which I ran an application called 'Restoration' that undeletes files from the recycle bin just yesterday

i typed in the exact name of the html bookmarks file hoping for a match and it brought up one file, which roughly dates to when the file was created.....i thought that was the solution to my problem until i tried opening the html file in various browsers only to have it display pages upon pages of garbled text such as

restoration also found a file for the other word document called 'Autorecovery save of bookies' (bookies was the filename of the original doc) butagain same garbled text problem even for that one


i have been grappling with the problem thru the day hoping to restore either of the two files and get back my bookmark links and even tried different kinds of recovery programs (such as recovermyfiles, recuva, datarecovery wizard etc.) and word recovery tricks but to no avail...

suprisingly all these programs pull up all kinds of deleted files from previous yrs, just not the two im interested in ......

at my wits end now and expert help wud be appreciated....i cud even mail the html/word file to anyone interested in helping me recover the original file(s)

the information of the short cuts have been corrupted
there no chance in getting them back

It's likely the file headers have been overwritten. Some of the data is still probably recoverable by a pro.

would any of u like to have the two files mailed to give it a show ...let me know

I would see if there is a recent System Restore date, maybe you get the files back intact that way.
