Seagate external USB HDD - Problem

September 30th, 2008, 9:33

Hello

As the title says, i have Seagate external USB HDD, 500G, and one partition on it, max size. As any other computer user i have important data on it, such as files, pictures, domuents...but most important of it all is MUSIC! More than half (250GB) is music..my collection..wich consists of many rare original albums....

One day, i was copying music from friend's external USB HDD to mine...and while doing this, i went to internet....everithing freezed...i couldn't move mouse, couldn't do anything...i forced shutdown (hold power button) and turned it on again...windows didn't recognise my HDD, but friend's was normal...after playing with plugin, unplaging the HDD and restarting comp, windows recognised it as Local Disk but could not open it...when i tried, my comp would freeze for a moment, and than a message was shown, saying 'Drive F is not formated, would you like to format it now?' Before this happened, HDD was recognised as FREE AGENT (F)....

So,i downloaded some data recovery software and tried to recover what was there...it started good...BUT, after a while, an error message was shown: 'Low virtual memory' and quited the program..oh, the program was 'Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery'...it recoverd about 150GB of data, but I erased it all thinking of starting the whole proces again from scratch..bad decision....later, i managed to recover some data (15GB + - )...but, when i tried to recover music (many GBs) after a while, the program just go crazy..whole process is speeded up and done very fast, but nothing is stored..well,there are files stored but theirs size is 0b....

Please, could anyone help me, I'm desperate :(:(:(:(:(:(:( my music is very important to me, I couldn't stand to lose it :((:

PLEASE HEELP!!! :(:(

Thankk you...
