WD800BB-22JHCO Device Error Detected

October 17th, 2008, 4:27

I have WD800BB-22JHC0 and try to run utility in PC3K. But it appeared "WD Techno Key Error - Device Error Detected 51/04 (ABR). It also detected wrong model & serial number.
But the drive spin and become 'ready' and no clicking/knocking sound.
What cause of this problem?

Thanks

Which PC3000 are you using?

At which point does it fail? Exactly please.

Also, what is the wrong model and serial number that it detected?

sorry for late reply..i've been so busy lately..
I've found the answer - somebody in this forum said it was because the model is not supported by PC3K..
But if you all have any comment or different opinion about that pls let me know...
anyway I'm using PC3K PCI and the model & SN detected like this:
Model : WDC ROM MODEL ....
Serial : WDC-ROM SN#XYZ---------

PCI does support that model.
Most likely firmware issue.

Rom corruption.... Sometimes a partial corruption does not prevent the drive from starting. Could also be a translator issue, in any case I vote for firmware, either in the PCB or inside the disk.

did you change the original PCB ?

1-If you did, did you solder the ROM IC from the original PCB on the new one ?

2-did you check the firmware modules ?
