partition repair

i have a hardrive out of a laptop with no bad sectors, as i did clone it with no errors, and then recovered all the the files in a logical recovery, anyway it does come up as raw data in windows xp, and asks to format the partition, i was just wondering what is wrong with this drive and what caused this to happen, it is out of a DELL and is a travelstar HT548060M9AT00 60gig drive, any help is appreciated, i feel it is something to do with MBR and heat has caused this to happen, only begginner here, even though we recovered all the files, just like to know more about tech explanation that caused all to happen..anyfeedback is appreciated, what would be the best program to fix this this MBR if that's what the problem is, would like to purchase this this program if it is not too expensive. ALL THE BEST TO ALL THAT MAKES THIS ROCK!

Testdisk should be able to recover it.

Try that tool. It's free. It has ability to copy reserve records over corrupted main records. What basically happened is likely a minor corruption in your boot record or MFT. Your drive may still be usable. Since you recovered all data, feel free to experiment.

The problem is Windows XP, period. :)
