Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Has anyone managed to get and install this? I've downloaded the updates for Seagate, WD, and Hitachi, and one of them is a corrupt .zip, one of them is just the installer for the old version, and one of them the installer is broken.
Thank goodness for Salvation's quality control department.

I downloaded the older WD (I think, don't remember exactly) non-Beta software a few days ago, and inside was the latest Beta. I hope it works great, as I don't have the older, non-beta. Then again, all of it is Beta, regardless of what they call it.

I have WD 2.32 if you need it.
November 22nd, 2008, 16:55
Yeah, I've got the 2.32 and the 2.50 beta, but they "released" a 3.00 on Thursday that has such exciting features as:
*Doesn't power on drive at start of program like people have been asking for forever!
*Doesn't take two hours to do a full firmware backup on new ROYL series drives!
etc.
The only problem is that I can't seem to actually download the new version, as their archives are corrupt or mislabeled or broken.
Same goes for the new Hitachi prog and the new Seagate prog.

I downloaded the 3.2 and sure enough its corrupt at the end of the zip file.

Yeah, looks like they finally joined the 21st century and disabled open directories on their webserver. A shame.

One step forward, two steps back...

Is it just me, or is there no more link for the Maxtor HD Doctor download?
I can't believe the mess over there. It looks much more like a soon-to-be-ex employee screwed the downloads on purpose, than by accident. It would take an impressive amount of incompetence to screw the downloads that bad.

The updated maxtor s/w I downloaded appeared to be corrupt and have a virus in it
November 23rd, 2008, 10:10
WTF with Salvationdata? i'm very doubtfull with their products now especially DC...

The Maxtor software has always set off AVG as having a virus.
But yes, this whole event comes of more like sabotage or some sort of scam.

I messaged Laura last night, and within 30 minutes the downloads were fixed.
Sorry to say that the WD update isn't much better than the beta.
I think that Salvation is still reading this forum and I believe they are listening.
I would suggest everyone that has their products post your complaints
and bug reports to the salvation forum.
Maybe if there is enough noise, they might actually fix the products to be more useful.
They definately need a GUI programmer, and some testers.
