i have a wd3200jb-00kfa0 which got fried by a faulty external usb enclosure
the pcb is 2060-701314-003 REV A
i have been trying to find one of these drives/pcbs without success so that i could swap the u12 firmware chip and try to get it going
i have seen wd3200jb drives with this similar pcb for sale - 2060-701314-002 REV A
does anyone know if i could use one of these or does it have to be a 2060-701314-003 REV A
many thanks

it might work. But I would try to get one that is an exact match. On some WD drives the last digit refers to the CPU version.
