I'm looking for a way to extract the platters and put them in a new disk without losing alignment.
thanks

you have number of options.
Option 1 - design your own tool to do the job.
Option 2 - Purchase a tool - Use search facility on this forum.
Option 3 - Send the job to a pro.

thanks
i purcase a tool but find only one solutions.
can you recommend a store where to buy?

Believe me, this is not a job for anyone but a professional. Chances of loosing alignment outweighs the chance of the alignment being kept. You will likely loose your alignment and the data forever. Even if the alignment is maintained, the chance of the head stack remaining good is unlikely, and if additional parts were used then compatibility may also be a factor.
What is the reason you need to move platters? Is it for a repair, or data recovery or just for fun?

If u tried to did platter exchange to get data back, u could kill u data , the only way where´s could be need " and this is not the best i.e seagate" should be when hdd has spindle problems , if u a spoke spanish language check my profile, and go to our website, we did a video where explain on "spanish" why not did platter exchange, because many people think its the "way" to get data back got another disk and change´s platters, and that could be left the hdd unrecoverable, we got a lot of cases here,

recovery data is for job.
use the professional service is too expensive $$$
I have already recovered and repaired disk data
I have used the professional tools to repair but were not of my property. Only the big Centers can buy
I have found only a costly solution to remove the platter without losing alignment (cost 600$)
For this reason I try cheaper Tool to start and then buy those expensive
thanks

If you feel that $600 is too expensive, then you will not get far.

Like i told u the Platter exchange its only need it when hdd has spindle problems and this is not the best , IFf u hdd has SA damaged for example the problem could still or could worst, because the damaged at this cases are on the "platters" information wich was stored at factory believe me, we did a lot of tests, on seagate, hitachi ,samsung, maxtor, etc, even if u take all stack of platters , if u got one by one u easily lost the alignment and centering
If u hdd knocks, the solutiont its not platter exchange , if u hdd reach readiness DRDY DSC, and u did platter exchange u will be lost alignment, and u lost sectors, and lost the another way to get sectors,
HDD´s are piece of engineering, on first u should be identify the problem and the platter exchange its not the solution, if u did platter exchange u will be left the hdd like unrecoverable, check our video,
Regards

My solution is a lot cheaper than $600. But it's only for me.
$600 is cheap for someone else's solution.
Add a couple of zero's to that figure and I might consider selling my solution.
Either develop your own solution or be prepared to pay. Data Recovery is expensive for a very good reason.

At my profile, then to my website, we record a little video "on spanish" , because we need to show the people on my country "dont did platter exchanges" because here on my country happend´s all the time the people who search a way to Do it by self, get platters and put and another HDA thinking, from this way "i can recover my data" but this cause most damaged

I should quote HDDspaz : I worked out my own solution and is "relatively" cheaper than $600 but only not including overall development and mfg. time.
Well, if $600 is too much for you, DR could not be your cup of tea. Or you have only one choice : DESIGN YOUR OWN. But don't expect asking drawings or Autocad DXF construction plans HERE or everywhere you'll get what you want.
You can do plan B : try copying the tool you have borrowed, if you can. But a prototype with the required tolerances will cost you more and more than the regular retail price of a platter extraction tool. Don't believe me ? Try it.

yes ok. but i find only one store for buy platter extractor.

What do you expect, an entire "PLATTER EXTRACTORS" department at Wal Mart or Amazon.com? If you need diagnostic equipment for HDDs you are luckier, you can choose ACE or SALVATIONDATA and BVG. Nothing else.
December 11th, 2008, 5:37
thanks
i find tools on SALVATIONDATA
but not find website for ACE and BVG. can you send link
thanks

ACE + BVG do not sell tools for platter extraction.
As you clearly can't be bothered to research yourself or even use the search function, try here
www.hdrconline.com I have heard the tool can perform mirracles

Wait until you dropped one of the platter whilst using that tool, then its a bloody miracle

You didn't get me ... ACE and SD make tools for low level diagnosis , not for platter extraction. Or better, SD has tooling for PE, not ACE neither BVG.
In any case, if you are searching for a 50$ tool, it's not possible.

Maybe. For the future I'm not going to answer anymore to people who want to enter the DR market this way. And if we
ALL do the same, simply they will go elsewhere.
The same for recovery software, for warez and everyhting else when the original post sounds coming from newbies, kids, "poor" people, wannabes and so on. As I said many times, forums are not a call center neither an employement office...
Aren't you tired of giving verbose explanation instead of the 5 magical words "send it to a pro" ? If we hope to get gratitude....
