Maxtor ALTAIR - Problem with a Maxtor drive.

Hi everybody.

I have a Maxtor 94098H6 of 40 Gbytes. It was recognized by the BIOS as Maxtor 94098H6. The drive was working perfectly, but after an intensive session of use, when I powered down the PC and powered up again, the BIOS recognized the drive as Maxtor ALTAIR, and after that, the following error message appears "Primary Hard Disk Fail". The drive doesn't recalibrate.
What has happened ? Does anybody know how to resolve this problem ?

Hi Carlos how are you ?, this problem is the same as Athena, Proxima, Romulus and others, has a Module in your hard disk that is failling and till now I don`t know what can be donne.
I would like that you put here here a little bit more information if you can of course.
-What is the namer of the processor in the PCB ?
- What is the name that is on PCB ? ( look at botton or in the right side of the board )
-What is the numebers that are on the PCB ?
-What is the information on the label about the HDA, and PCB and Code ?
