What symptoms is the drive showing?

Is it spinning? Is it clicking? If you can provide some accurate descriptions, you will get a better answer.

If it's seen in the BIOS correctly (i.e. model and capacity correct) then the PCB is fine.

Try something like R-Studio to see if it can recognize the drive and hopefully your data. As long as the correct model number is showing in the BIOS, you do not need to swap PCB. Possibly some bad sectors or a logical failure.

Hy

If you want to swap the pcb, this is OK, but not definitely will work for you!
You need to match the headmap as well, wich is programmed into the pcb.
Anyway, if you didnt match the headmap, the drive will clicking, and you can't see it on the bios.
(dont let the drive for clicking more than some second!)

If lightning or voltage spike kills the hdd, the preamp can be damaged as well, and can cause some strange problems!

I suggest to try swap the pcb, and if it not works, ask some pro near to you for help....

Anyway, this can be some logical problems too, not only electrical parts.
Try to test it with mhdd!

Good luck

Janos
