Try your board on a similar drive.
Test heads one by one.

Hi to all!

In the site hddguru says for a giver of heads needs to be:
" Exactly fw + In the alphabetic DCM code the sixth (and quite desirably the fifth) characters must be identical"

With its experience in this model WD800JD where can I help?
:?:

In my experience, that info applies to old WD drives and probably isn't reliable for the WD800JD.

Actually, for most WD 2 head drives, I've found it easy to get a compatible match, even when using other model numbers for donors.

If you have SD or PC3k, do a hotswap using a decent donor, then try to read the modules(double-click in SD doctor). If you see data on some of the modules, head is ok. If not, head is blown. Also, try to view user area after hotswap.

Good luck.
